Hulu and FX’s The Bear season 2 is on the way, and there are already plenty of exciting details about the return of the acclaimed series. Created by Christopher Storer and produced by Atlanta creator Hiro Murai, the multi-award-winning FX on Hulu TV show tackles the world of the food industry through the prism of a family dealing with grief. The Bear stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmy, a talented chef who used to work at the best restaurant on the planet before moving back to Chicago to take over his family’s sandwich shop after his brother’s death.

After Carmy takes control of The Original Beef, The Bear season 1 focuses on him attempting to improve the restaurant. Season 1 of The Bear has been met with great acclaim, as reviews for the series praised the cast and the high-tension story. The performance from Shameless’s Jeremy Allen White, his battle with anxiety caused by the restaurant lifestyle, and the repressed grief over the death of his brother all act as particularly strong anchors for the series. As a result, it is understandable that audiences want to see much more of Carmy’s story and what happens next for The Original Beef in The Bear season 2.

The Bear Season 2: Latest News

While much of The Bear season 2 has been kept under wraps, there has been a fair few exciting updates. FX has confirmed that the show will be returning for its second season in early summer 2023 with a 10-episode run, which is an increase from the 8-episode first season. While there is not much news beyond this, it hints that there will be plenty of further updates in the coming months as the release window for audiences to return to the intense kitchen world of The Bear draws near.

In addition, The Bear season 2 teaser hit the airwaves, and while it doesn’t include any particular plot details, it does show that The Original Beef has closed down and its workers are dealing with the aftermath. It also provided audiences with a release window, showing that the sophomore season will premiere in June 2023. On top of that, Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) has been added to the cast of The Bear (via Variety). Unfortunately, details regarding his character are being kept close to the chest, and he doesn’t appear in the teaser. Audiences will simply have to wait and see who the prolific actor plays in the upcoming installment.

The Bear Season 2 Was Renewed Before Season 1 Concluded

Only three weeks after its initial premiere, FX and Hulu announced that The Bear season 2 was greenlit. While successful television shows are usually renewed within the week of their release, it took The Bear a little bit longer to catch on. However, in the grand scheme of things, the announcement didn’t take that long at all. Due to the monumental success of the first season, the studios were encouraged to give The Bear season 2 the go-ahead. The Bear season 2 will hopefully continue to deliver even more drama in the restaurant setting.

The Bear Season 2: Release Date

FX has confirmed that The Bear season 2 will return in early summer 2023, and while there’s no firm release date, The Bear season 2 teaser revealed that the show will be back on FX in June 2023. With the acclaim of season 1, called one of the best shows of 2022 by many critics, it is not surprising that FX was keen to get the second season airing before too long. The first season aired in August 2022, but it looks like The Bear season 2 is jumping the gun and premiering just a few months shy of one year after its first run.

The Bear Season 2: Cast

When The Bear season 2 happens, viewers should see most of the cast and characters return. Jeremy Allen White will lead the ensemble cast of The Bear once again as Carmy. The first season came close to leaving the show in a position to leave Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Marcus (Lionel Boyce) out of the next story, but that changed by the end. The rest of The Bear‘s cast is returning as well with Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Abby Elliott.

There is also room for some of the season 1 guest stars to return, such as Oliver Platt as Uncle Jimmy and Joel McHale as Carmy’s former chef boss. There may also be flashbacks including Carmy’s brother, Michael (Jon Bernthal) before his death. Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad) has also joined the cast of The Bear season 2. Unfortunately, Odenkirk’s character name nor his plot in the overall story has been revealed. However, the talented actor’s involvement is exciting news nonetheless.

The Bear Season 2: Story Details

There is a clear tease of what The Bear season 2’s story will be in the finale. Carmy discovers his brother had money hidden in the tomato cans, giving the restaurant an influx of cash – and surely enough to pay back Uncle Jimmy (Chicago Med’s Oliver Platt). This leads Carmy to close The Original Beef. He mentions on the closing sign that a rebrand is coming, with the restaurant’s name changing to The Bear. The Bear season 2 will likely pick up where season 1 ended. Season 2 will likely follow the opening of this new restaurant and Carmy, Richie, and Sydney make it better than The Original Beef.

The Bear Season 2: Trailer

A teaser trailer has finally dropped for The Bear season 2, but it doesn’t reveal nearly anything about the plot. The footage shows Carmy and the rest of the staff dealing with The Original Beef closing down at the end of season 1. Then, Carmy’s voiceover can be heard, saying “Family style? Two-tops? Booths?”, presumably talking about the re-branding of the restaurant. The teaser clearly is seeking to usher in a new era for Carmy and his family’s restaurant, but also maintains that letting go of the past may be harder for some characters than it is for others in The Bear season 2.
