A mysterious item called the Ring Garland has no clear use when players get it in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but it actually unlocks hidden dialogue from a certain NPC. This piece of jewelry acts very differently from other accessories Link finds, sitting outside the player’s inventory. Expanded interaction between characters gives more depth to the world and perhaps hints at other secrets yet to be discovered.
The Ring Garland is purchased from a vendor named Koko in Kakariko Village, an area located west of Necluda toward the southeast section of the map. Thankfully, the item can be bought relatively cheaply, costing players five Rupees. Unfortunately, there are no clear uses for the Ring, as it does not show up in the inventory and lacks a description that would give a hint about its use.
How to Use the Ring Garland in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The hidden piece of dialogue players can find with the Ring Garland only happens after they have fused the item with one of their shields. This allows the Ring to be “equipped” in a way, making it visible to the NPC Link must talk to for this bit of extra conversation. Once players have attached the Ring to a shield, they should head over to the Gerudo Shelter, located in the Gerudo Desert.
After night falls, players should visit Ashai, who has been teaching a class about relationships. Link can help with the class, which goes through a normal back-and-forth between characters that players might expect. However, the NPC Deltan remarks on the item, saying, “Isn’t that a Ring Garland? They’re famous for binding the destinies of people!”.
This secret response leads into Deltan finding new hope for love in her future and perhaps giving a clue about a deeper purpose behind the Ring. Unfortunately, at this time of writing, there are no other discovered uses for the Ring Garland; not even a reward is given for unlocking this dialogue with Deltan. In addition, players may be disappointed that the Ring with the shield is not a useful fuse in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, providing no real effects or benefits.
In the future, players could find out another use for the Ring Garland in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that lets them get a combat advantage or unlock a new place to explore, but for now, it remains a beacon of hope for Deltan’s search for love.
