Rick & Michonne Hang From Burning Helicopter & Fight Walkers in Awesome Walking Dead Art

A talented artist has imagined what an action-packed scene from The Walking Dead‘s upcoming Rick and Michonne spinoff series could look like. The currently untitled Rick and Michonne-led spinoff series was announced in July 2022 at San Diego Comic-Con, and was teased in The Walking Dead‘s series finale, which featured the return of Andrew Lincoln (Rick) and Danai Gurira (Michonne) after they both left the show in seasons 9 and 10 respectively. Filming for the spinoff is currently underway.

In an Instagram post from artist Aki, Rick and Michonne hang from a burning CRM helicopter over a horde of walkers.

The poster reads “The Walking Dead: Summit,” which is the current working title for the Rick and Michonne spinoff. In the picture’s caption, the artist explains, “Why Is It Called “Summit”? Because It’s Gonna Be PEAK!!!

Everything We Know About the Rick & Michonne Spinoff Series

Filming for Rick and Michonne’s Walking Dead spinoff began in February, and is expected to conclude in the coming months, with the series getting a tentative 2024 release window. Set photos and videos from the series have seen Rick exploring a new community and walking down a street lined with cafés, as well Rick and Michonne reunited and running from a pack of walkers. Though the Walking Dead spinoff is being shot in New Jersey, it’s unclear where it will actually be taking place.

While little has been revealed about the plot of the upcoming spinoff, it has been confirmed that Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) will be appearing, as McIntosh was spotted on set in March. McIntosh’s involvement with the show could indicate that characters from other Walking Dead titles may appear in several of the upcoming spinoffs, of which the Rick and Michonne series is only one. Other upcoming spinoffs include the Negan and Maggie-centric Dead City, currently set to air in June, and Daryl Dixon, which is expected to be released in late 2023.

Though there has been excitement building for all the new Walking Dead series, Rick and Michonne’s storylines are some of the most anticipated, as the former’s fate has been left up in the air for years. Though there has been little official commentary on the series, set pictures are building excitement, especially at the prospect of Rick and Michonne finally reuniting. With Rick’s final shot in The Walking Dead seeing him face down a CRM helicopter after potentially escaping, Aki’s artwork picks up where the series left off, and gives fans something to look forward to.
