With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on the horizon, there have been more official trailers, as well as leaks, appearing which shed light on what original theories may be incorrect. Since its announcement, theories and speculation of what Tears of the Kingdom could entail have been in abundance, spurred on by every tiny little detail revealed. But now, with more information coming out and the release date only a month away, some of those theories are being proved wrong.
Most of these theories have been hopeful dreams of what players would like to see in a new Zelda game, while others are carefully pieced-together analyses from seconds-long gameplay trailers. For better or worse, there is one major assumption that many held regarding TOTK which now seems to be being proven wrong.
Zelda’s Tears Of The Kingdom Looks Brighter And More Cheerful Than Originally Thought
Many recent leaks for TOTK have come from unauthorized images of the official art book for the game. These pictures show that the widely held belief that TOTK would be much darker in both story and overall colors in the artistry of the world than Breath of the Wild, may in fact be completely the opposite. While originally the game appeared to feel more like Majora’s Mask or Twilight Princess, the newly leaked artwork combined with recent trailers and gameplay demonstrations have actually shown a vibrant Hyrule that is full of color.
Zelda: TOTK Isn’t All About Sky Islands Either
Nintendo has made references to the amount of Sky Islands that players will see and visit in TOTK, even going so far as to show off Link’s new ability that allows him to reach the Sky Islands. What has not been advertised very heavily are numerous ocean creatures and items that the leaked art book references. In BOTW players were surprised to discover that although diving and swimming underwater was not a frequent occurrence, the attention to underwater details was incredible, even though it went unused. This could be remedied now with the sequel, as these leaked images suggest.
Most likely, once TOTK releases, there will be many theories and speculations which are proven wrong, and hopefully, those will lead to some fun surprises for players to enjoy experiencing for themselves. A more vibrant Hyrule, with new biomes of both Sky Islands and underwater exploration, would make for a fun game for players to immerse themselves in. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is scheduled to release for the Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
