Early on into Marvel Snap, players will realize that the most powerful cards are limited by their Energy cost to force their use to the later rounds of a game, but cards such as Wave alter this mindset by reducing that cost and opening up new strategies. The 3 Energy 3 Power character sets the Energy of all cards in both players’ hands to 4 On Reveal, creating a universal change that affects both sides within a match. Giving either player the opportunity to place strong anchors from their hand early, this preemptive card strikes a bold plan that must be complimented by specific combinations that take advantage of this chance best.

Players may choose to take Wave into their decks and formulate a build that completely ramps Energy in order to have huge reserves of this necessary resource to play the expensive cards that have now been lowered in cost. According to content creator Cozy Snap, Wave works well with Electro in this regard, as the 3 Energy 2 Power card gives players a +1 increase to their max Energy for easier access to the now 4 Energy cards created by Wave’s effect. Although the primary benefit of Wave remains felt through multiple cards with high base Energy costs, sometimes players only need one strong anchor to be brought out early from Wave in their deck. A great example of this comes from Galactus in Marvel Snap, whose incredibly unique ability demolishes Locations and changes the landscape of matches when brought out by Wave as soon as turn 4.

How to Build The Wave Ramp Deck Build

The plethora of cards in this deck build oftentimes seen as solitary anchors in other decks may intimidate players, but they must remember how much of an impact Wave’s ability creates when using these characters. Nick Fury adds three 6-cost cards to the player’s hand, which not only combines well with Devil Dinosaur for an easy Power value play, but also gives the players options beyond what their deck normally has. The variety of Locations that pop up and change strategies might result in Magneto or Arnim Zola in Marvel Snap less than optimal, so the inclusion of S.H.I.E.L.D’s leader gives more depth to Wave’s setup.

Players that are struggling to have the perfect hand for Wave are also able to use Odin, a 6 Energy 8 Power card, to reactivate Wave On Reveal, as the father of Thor causes all On Reveal effects to happen again when played. This move could create two turns in a row where Wave’s effect applies, giving players a bit more time to draw the right card to win a Location. In the same vein, Leader and Aero support Wave as two of the strongest cards currently in Marvel Snap, with duplication and disruption abilities respectfully that account for the risks taken through Wave’s effect being used by the opponent as well.

How to Build The Wave – Galactus Deck

Galactus hosts one of the most distinct powers in the game, as the 6 Energy 2 Power card wipes out the other two Locations on the field On Reveal if it is the only card the player places at an intended Location. Wave allows players to gain access to this ability prior to the final round, changing the pace of a game drastically. Including the powerful destruction archetype anchor Death in Marvel Snap makes for an easy combo, as the 9 Energy 12 Power card reduces in cost for each card eliminated, becoming practically 0 every time through the devastation Galactus inevitably causes.

Heavy counters to exist to this strategy though, mainly through the 3 Energy 3 Power Cosmo who ends up blocking all On Reveal effects at a Location. Players will have to work ahead of this unfortunate disruption, using cards like Sunspot and Okoye to throw off opponents before placing Galactus. Cards such as Spider-Man and Shang-Chi are great for using after Galactus removes the other Locations, as the former 4 Energy 3 Power card prevent opposing cards from being played the following turn while the latter destroys any card over 9 Power On Reveal to prevent another Death or the ever strong Devil Dinosaur from outmatching the player’s Power value.
